Dennis Steven Gleason

Dennis Gleason was born on 7/29/1946 to Catherine and Michael Gleason. Dennis had two brothers and two sisters. The family lived in Teaneck,NJ.

Dennis played Little League baseball, attended Thomas Jefferson Junior High and graduated from Teaneck High School in 1964. In his High School Yearbook Dennis was described as being tall, good looking, being a true sportsman and interesting to be with. He enjoyed hunting, skin diving and water skiing.

Dennis was drafted on his 21st birthday in 1967. His tour of Vietnam began on 1/5/68. He served as a Rifleman in the 4th Infantry Division, 8th Regiment, 3rd Battalion, E Company and he attained the rank of Private First Class.

Dennis wrote many letters to his parents and siblings. He once wrote that he was glad he didn’t kill anyone yet. One of his brothers said that Dennis hated the idea of killing.

Private Gleason was killed defending an Army base in Kontum Province, South Vietnam. This brave soldier was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroism, the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.

Private Gleason is buried in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.

Gleason - PFC: Dennis Stephen Gleason was born on July 29, 1946.  His home of record is Teaneck, NJ.  He had two brothers and two sisters.  Dennis played Little League and attended Thomas Jefferson Junior High.  He graduated from Teaneck High School in 1964.  He was drafted into the US Army and attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC).

    Gleason was killed in action on March 26, 1968.
