James T. Welsh, Municipal Manager, Teaneck

James T. WelshJames T. Walsh, a native of Ohio, has his Master's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh and has taken graduate courses in Public Administration at Columbia University. He served as Naval Military Governor of an occupied area in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, he was elected to the City Council of Steubenville, Ohio, as a Councilman at large and served two terms as Mayor of that city. A sports enthusiast, Mr. Welsh taught and coached athletics at different high schools before being elected Mayor.

In March 1948 he was appointed Deputy Manager of Teaneck and Manager two years later in 1950. Mr. Welsh is active in community and professional organizations, holding membership in the International City Managers' Assoication, American Public Works Association, American Society of Public Administrators, V. F. W. and the American Legion. He is currently serving as Vice-President of the Teaneck Rotary Club.

Mr. Welsh has served in many League committees, including the Advisory Committee, Conference Program Planning Committee, League Legislative Committee, League Traffic Safety Committee and the Resolutions Committee. He is President of the New Jersey Municipal Managers' and Administrators' Assoication.
