Salvatore Procopio

Salvatore Procopio was born in Omaha, Nebraska on 11/15/1917 to Catherine and Antonio Procopio. He had a brother Vincent. The family also lived in the New Jersey municipalities of Passaic and Clifton. Salvatore attended Clifton High School and entered Rutgers College in September 1935. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy and subsequently worked as a pharmacist. He was married to Dorothy Procopio. Sometime in the early 1940s the Procopios resided in Teaneck, New Jersey.

Salvatore enlisted in the Army on 7/20/42. He served in the 112th Infantry, 28th Division and attained the rank of Second Lieutenant. He died as a prisoner of war of the Germans on 12/23/44.

This brave soldier was awarded the Purple Heart Medal and is buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery in Belgium.
