- Nathan C. Lunapiena - Sgt. - Nathan C. Lunapiena was born on May 21, 1945, in Bedford, NJ. His home of record is Hoboken, NJ, where he was a long time resident. He had one brother, Louis. He graduated from Hoboken High School in 1963. Nathan moved to Teaneck, NJ, just about one year prior to leaving for Vietnam.
Lunapiena served in the US Marine Corps and attained the rank of Sergeant (SGT). On April 7, 1968, Lunapiena began his tour of duty in Vietnam. He extended his tour of duty by three months, so that he would be able to leave the service earlier.
On February 22, 1969, while serving with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, Lunapiena was mortally wounded while in Quang Tri, South Vietnam. He was survived by his wife of one year.

- Sgt Nathan Charles Lunapiena - Nathan was the husband of Judie R. Lunapiena of Teaneck NJ, the son of Nathan A. Lunapeina of Hoboken NJ. And Erma Colson of Boise ID. Nathan graduated from Hoboken High School in 1963 and on November 3, 1965 enlisted in the US Marine Corps in New York City, NY. He arrived in Vietnam on April 7, 1968 where he was assigned for duty with Company C, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3d MARDIV (Rein) FMF.
On February 13 during Operation DEWEY CANYON Company C in a tactical movement approximately eight kilometers north of Laos, near Hill 686 in the Trieu Phong District of Quang Tri Province made two encounters with NVA forces. The Marines engage in a fire fight with a platoon sized force at approximately 1425 hours and with one Marine being killed in and six wounded action before the enemy withdrew into the undergrowth. Later in the early evening an estimated NVA Company attacked the Marines firing 61mm mortars, RPG's (Rocket Propelled Grenades) and small arms. The Marines suffered three men killed in the action and 21 were wounded.
One of the casualties was Sgt Lunapiena, he was evacuated to the USNH Ship Sanctuary of the coast of Vietnam where he died on February 22, as a result of the gunshot wounds he had suffered from hostile rifle fire.
