Teaneck Public Library Appoints Allen McGinley Interim Library Director

 

Allen McGinleyBoard of Trustees of the Teaneck Public Library is pleased to announce the appointment of Allen McGinley as Interim Library Director, effective July 2, 2018.  The trustees voted unanimously to appoint Mr. McGinley to the position.  He succeeds Michael McCue who retired earlier this year.

A search committee of the Board including President Joy Charles, Vice President Evalyn Brownstein, Treasurer Paul Ostrow, and Secretary Myron Chaitovsky scrutinized more than twenty applicants from a wide pool of library professionals.

“This is an exciting time for the Teaneck Public Library.  We are thrilled to welcome Allen as Interim Director.  He is a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in library services,” states Joy Charles, Teaneck Public Library’s Board President.

Allen McGinley comes to Teaneck with a decade of service at the Piscataway Public Library.  He has been named one of Library Journal’s "Movers and Shakers" for community building, and an American Library Association Emerging Leader.

“It is an honor and privilege to be selected as the Interim Director of the Teaneck Public Library,” said Mr. McGinley.  “I am eager to work with the Library Board and staff as we continue to improve the quality of life for all Teaneck residents through opportunities for education, collaboration, and engagement.” 

Mr. McGinley received his B.A. from the State University of New York at Geneseo, and his M.A. in Information Science from the University at Albany. He and his wife, Barbara McGinley, have a two-year-old son named Samuel.
